kidney riddler - a brand new project from mike and lise. Pop over and have a listen.
landslide - excellent live blues/funk band. originals and covers (and original covers).
keiretsu - live breakbeat/d&b band with about 20 people on stage. wicked :) also the people who got me back into making computer based music. can be found with a host of others over at the hybrid record label, dart recordings.

winamp - probably the most popular mp3 player on the planet. get it... now...
real - almost a necessary evil. handy for streaming audio. good luck finding the free player tho' .
ogg vorbis - the rival to mp3. already popular in the gaming industry. now support is included as standard in winamp3.
flash/shockwave - macromedia rules the web for online animation/interactive websites. go here for the relevant browser plugins.

 

general

b3ta - deserves everyones support. the funniest and most obscure of the net all dredged into a single location.
astronomy picture of the day - this is great first thing in the morning, when you're feeling weak. just to remind you how insignificant we really (probably) are. updated every day.
the darwin awards - keeping the gene pool squeaky clean.
the onion - it's on everybodies link list for a very good reason!
movie mistakes - put your favourite movie on a pedestal? get ready to take it down. one of the best and most interesting time-wasters on the net

games - ways to waste a few hours

mafia - a truly amazing way to waste an hour here and there, if only for the awesome django reinhardt soundtrack.
hitmanhq - find out more about another great way to waste a bit of time, also accompanied by one of the best soundtracks ever released for a computer game.

hooked on phonics - turns up in the logs once per week - improve childrens reading (com)
worldwide fund for nature (wwf) - i feel a bit guilty for this. people often want to know how to save monkeys, and end up here. so, i think this would be the best place to start - definitely worthwhile.
